Moorland Gothic: Autumn Shades from the Yorkshire Moors

There is something magic about Yorkshire when autumn starts creeping in. The light goes all soft, mist hangs low across the hills, and the whole landscape turns into these rich, deep tones: faded heather, wet earth, and dark gritstone. It is my favourite time of year, and the exact feeling I wanted to capture in this new collection.

If you were here with us last year, you might remember our previous Yorkshire collection. Where that palette focused on different areas of Yorkshire such as the Dales and Coast, Moorland Gothic feels like its moodier and atmospheric sister. It embraces the wild, dramatic beauty of the local moors when the weather turns crisp and evocative.

Whether you are looking for rich, moody hues or subtle, earthy semi-solids for your autumn knitting and crochet projects, this collection was created to evoke that countryside warmth directly to your hooks and needles.

Local Fibres Spun in the Heart of Yorkshire

Beyond the colour palette, this collection is deeply rooted in local textile heritage. Every single yarn base featured in the Moorland Gothic release has been spun locally right here in Yorkshire, supporting British wool production and local mills.

For this launch, Moorland Gothic is available on three distinct hand-dyed yarn bases in both a fingering and DK weight:

• Duo: My signature custom yarn base. Designed specifically for versatile garments and accessories, Duo combines soft, durable BFL and Merino fibres to create a beautifully balanced yarn that showcases both texture and depth of colour.

• Calder: A luxurious blend of Falkland wool, baby alpaca, and silk. It offers gorgeous drape and gentle shine, making it perfect for cosy autumn sweaters, fluid scarves, and elegant shawls.

• Wuthering: Named with a nod to classic moorland lore, Wuthering is a stunning blend of Bluefaced Leicester and Masham. It brings a lovely bit of rustic texture to your stitches and is absolute perfection for warm, cosy autumn makes.

By sourcing and spinning our yarn locally in Yorkshire, each skein carries a genuine connection to the landscape that inspired it.

In-Stock All Autumn Long

I know how frustrating it can be to miss out on small-batch artisan yarn releases, so I am doing things a little differently for this launch. Moorland Gothic is a full in-stock collection that will remain available throughout the entire autumn season.

We will be running regular shop updates and restocks every two weeks straight through until the end of November. If a particular shade or base sells out today, more hand-dyed skeins will be coming to the shop very soon.
